BGlobal Community Privacy Policy

This privacy notice tells you what to expect us to do with your personal information when you join BGlobal.

When you join BGlobal Community, personal data provided by you will be processed by one of the BGlobal Lead Administrators of the platform as Data Controller and by the platform developers (Kit United, “Hivebrite”) as Data Processor under contract with BAM Global. BGlobal is an initiative of the BAM Global network and is accountable to the BAM Global Chairing Team and Advisory Board.

Where you join community Groups in the platform (e.g. industry, topic or geographical groups), your data will also be processed by the Group administrators. 

We take protecting your personal data very seriously and will always take all reasonable steps within our power to make sure your information is safe.

By accepting our terms and conditions and using our service, you affirm that you are at least 18 years of age and are giving your consent for the BGlobal Administrators and Hivebrite to store and process your personal data.

If you do not wish to give your consent by accepting our Terms of Use, you will not be able to access our platform.

You may withdraw your consent at any time, by contacting us using the contact details provided below.

1. Data we collect

We collect the following information when you create an account:

  • Your name
  • Email address
  • Gender
  • Nationality
  • Your contact and security preferences
  • Your location
  • Your roles and interest areas in BAM

You may set up your profile using an abbreivated name or pseudonym, and whichever other biographical information you choose to share. However, you agree to supply administrators with your real name and a real email address.

Further details that you provide about yourself on your Profile are at your own discretion and may be edited by you at any time. Please do not post personal data to your profile that you are not willing to share with the BGlobal Community.

We may collect other personal data submitted by you, for instance in the context of filling out forms or responding to surveys. Furthermore, as you interact with other users, they may post information about you to the platform or tag you in posts in order to notify you. Our security protocol in our Terms of Use asks Members not to share information about Members outside the BGlobal platform without gaining express permission to do so from those concerned. 

We will also use cookies to identify you when you visit the site and log usage data including what content you click on.

As the platform develops in the future, we will from time to time add new features which may require the collection of additional data.

2. How we use your data

We use your data to:

  • Allow you to engage in a virtual community, and to connect and network with other BGlobal Members
  • Keep you upto-date with platform developments and community news and activities
  • Administer the efficient running of the BGlobal platform and to monitor its effectiveness

3. How we share information

It is important to realise that the details about yourself that you post to the site will be visible to other users.

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties.

4. Links to other websites

This privacy notice does not cover any links to other websites which appear on the BGlobal platform. We encourage you to read the privacy statements on the other websites you visit.

5. Your rights

You have the right to request, free of charge:

  • Access to and correction or deletion of your personal information
  • That we cease or limit our processing of your personal data
  • A copy of your personal information held by us in a portable format

Other important information

Data retention and account closure

We retain your personal data as long as you maintain your account in BGlobal in order to provide you with the site’s services. If you close your account, your personal data will generally stop being visible to others within 24 hours. If your account becomes dormant, your data will be removed after approximately 15 months.

Security

We take all reasonable steps to ensure that BGlobal is safe and secure. Nevertheless, there is no guarantee that the site security will never be breached and that users’ data will not be subject to access, disclosure or destruction. Cross border data transfers

By registering on the site, you acknowledge and agree that we may access and store your personal information anywhere in the world.

Registration verification

As part of the registration process, we verify your connection to the BAM and/or church network. For this purpose, if you request access to join the BGlobal Community we ask you for information about your interest in joining and for a referee name and contact details. If we cannot immediately verify who you are, we will obtain a reference from your referee which identifies you on the basis of your personal data. If we are still not satisified with your reasons for joining the BGlobal Community we reserve the right to refuse membership.  

Legal jurisdiction

The use of the site is governed by the laws of England. In accessing the platform, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts in all disputes arising out of or relating to the use of the website.

Changes to this policy

The BGlobal Lead Administrators may change this policy by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from 20 August 2020.
